Closed temporarily — usually renovation. It is expected back. CLOSED FOR RECONSTRUCTION, NOT DEMOLISHED, AND EXPECTED BACK. The Township states verbatim: 'Please note that the Sunderland Memorial Arena is under construction and cannot be rented at this time.' Groundbreaking was 4 September 2025; 'approximately 60% of the building will be renovated and 40% remaining as is'; the new ice pad floor was completed on 13 August 2026, with an expanded ice surface of 78 x 190 ft, new dressing rooms and accessibility upgrades. Grand opening details are 'coming soon', hosted with the Sunderland Lions Club, and no date is published. This is a FOURTH lifecycle state the contract's boolean cannot carry (s.8.13, s.8.24): not demolished, not never-opened, not seasonally ice-out, but closed for renovation with a reopening pending. Catalogue s.10.2 recorded this venue as 'listed open, actually closed for construction'; the Township now says so plainly, and the Region of Durham's layer still lists it as a live facility.
