  About this pad

Ice surface published as 14,580 sq ft - that is an AREA, not a capacity and not a standard footprint label, so size_standard stays unknown. Ice runs 'early fall to the early spring, each year'; the dry pad is used for concerts, banquets and corporate events in summer. The arena is one component of the Recreation & Wellness Centre building completed in 2018, which merged the existing pool and community arena. The Atikokan Curling Club's 4-sheet rink is in the SEPARATE Little Falls Recreation Centre building and is out of scope. Phone extension 232 for bookings. WEST of the 90th meridian. Atikokan is the unusual case: it observes CENTRAL STANDARD TIME ALL YEAR and does NOT change for daylight saving. The IANA zone is literally America/Atikokan. In summer it is therefore the same wall-clock time as Eastern Daylight Time, and in winter it is an hour behind Eastern. Using either America/Toronto or America/Winnipeg here is wrong for part of the year.

Known gap

TIMEZONE: this is one of only two Ontario places (with Pickle Lake) that observe CST year-round with no daylight saving - America/Atikokan. Any scheduling code must not assume Ontario = America/Toronto or even = America/Winnipeg for this venue. No seating capacity published.
