  About this pad

FOUR-WAY NAME SPLIT WITH THE TOWN ON BOTH SIDES: booking system 'Arena A'; arenas web page 'A Pad'; the closure banner - which appears on the Town's rentals page AND inside the booking system itself - 'River Oaks Community Centre Rink A'; Rangers 'River Oaks (A)'; Hornets 'River Oaks A'. OUT OF SERVICE AT RETRIEVAL: targeted to reopen 12 October following capital improvements and renovations. SIZE CONTRADICTION: the arenas page publishes 190 by 85 ft while the booking system calls it 'NHL-sized' - 190 ft is ten feet short of NHL, so the two operator sources cannot both be right; published non_standard on the measured figure. 6 change rooms, 1 referee room, bench seating on one side only. The smallest spectator capacity of the two pads here.

  About this pad

Full Olympic sheet, 200 by 100 ft, confirmed by both the arenas page (dimensions) and the booking system ('Olympic-sized'). One of only two Olympic-width surfaces in Oakville, the other being Sixteen Mile Arena 1 - which is why it recurs in Hornets and ringette-style schedules, where wide ice is preferred. 8 change rooms and 2 referee rooms, the most of any single Oakville pad. Bench seating overlooking the ice on one side. BUILDING NOTE: skate and helmet rentals are available at River Oaks ONLY during weekend and holiday recreational skates, unlike Maple Grove, Sixteen Mile and Trafalgar Park where they run at all scheduled recreational skating - the kind of detail that only appears on the Town's programming page, never on the facility page. The building also holds a fitness centre with indoor track, two squash and two racquetball courts, and 'The Box' training space.
